Dear Parents of Sacred Heart,

Welcome back to another exciting year at our wonderful school! I would like to formally welcome all of you to the Parent Support Group (PSG) team. All parents are members of the PSG and it is with the help and efforts of all the parents that makes our school a wonderful place to work and play. In the past, our PSG has funded many extracurricular events such as swimming lessons, skating classes, art lessons, and in-school performances; and has provided transportation for field trips. We have purchased capital equipment such as sports equipment, playground equipment, and musical instruments. All the wonderful work that the PSG has done over the past years has had the full support of the School Council.

Historically, the main fundraiser of the PSG was the Annual Ethnic Dinner. Last year we were able to raise a whopping $16,000.00! Unfortunately we will have to cancel the dinner this year due extenuating circumstances. That means we will have to focus on other fundraisers in order to offset the shortfall in finances. We are hoping to take much more of a TEAM approach this year to the fundraising: Together Everyone Achieves More!

Each class will be responsible for one of the mini-fundraising events this year. This will require a lead parent or parents from each class to step forward to organize and delegate a specific fundraising event. Some of the events we have hosted in the past include the DeVry poinsettia plant orders, Purdy’s chocolates, a Walk-A-Thon, spring DeVry baskets and a pasta/rib dinner and auction. These are only suggestions and we would love to hear any other ideas that you may have.

The new TEAM approach to fundraising and community building will be highlighted in upcoming school newsletters. As well, look for a PSG display in the gym on the evening of the family barbecue/year preview night.
